Ferrying a Piper Cub from Indiana to Texas

Richard bought his “new” cub sight unseen… 😳 and he couldn’t have made a better choice! This 1938 J3 was rebuilt about 10 years ago and is still in great shape. With a low time engine that barely used any oil and fantastic fabric, this should be the perfect plane to enjoy the Houston area for years to come!

Reunited with his Cessna 140

A few years ago, Mike owned N72885 but had to part ways… until now! This 1946 Cessna 140 spent a few years living in the Midwest before making the journey back out to Phoenix. Although weather made for some longer days than planned, this Cessna 140 was safely reunited on budget to a thrilled owner!

This 1975 Piper 140 is moving to it’s home in Georgia! The new owner will be using it to upgrade his Sport Pilot License to a Private Pilot License and his son wants to learn how to fly as well. Overall it was a clear day with great flying weather, until we came up the Atlanta terminal area…

Flight of Three from Piper Aircraft to UND

Not Your Father’s Trainer

Back in April 2016, the University of North Dakota signed an eight year fleet replacement contract with Piper Aircraft for a total of 80 Archer TXs and 20 Piper Seminoles (UND Continues to Increase Piper Trainer Fleet. 2017). Typically, CFI’s from UND are awarded the trip down to the factory and experience on the ferry flight back to school in Grand Forks, ND. With travel restrictions inspired by COVID-19, UND is not allowing the school CFI’s to travel and continue to instruct. To maintain their delivery schedule, Havens Aero got the call to help move a flight of three new Archer TX up aircraft to the school alonside Piper factory piltos. Check out some details from our trip below!

Navigating 2020 Without ADS-B

We’ve all heard that ADS-B “Out” is required to fly now that we’ve passed the January 1st, 2020 deadline. For those of you without ADS-B, there are still ways to get in the air… even IFR! The increased challenges of flying without ADS-B Out has started causing headaches for our delivery destination airports and has made it to my short list of qualifying questions for a new ferry request. Even without it, we can all still fly – albeit with a reduced capacity or some extra effort – and ferry flights are still in business! Just last week, we were able to deliver a 1974 Grumman Traveler AA5 from Indiana to Massachusetts. Check out the trip below!
